Although the weather in San Diego for the past couple of weeks has been somewhat gloomy, it was a perfect day out in Pacific Beach on Saturday, July 10th for Shamrun & Carly Lodkey‘s wedding. The special occasion was held at the beautiful and historic ZLAC Rowing Club, a venue that I had never been to before but seems to be very popular since I’ll be DJing a wedding there next weekend as well. My co-DJ for the evening was my protégé Devereaux who is currently learning the ropes of being an all-event DJ.

The decor inside of the room, provided by Platinum Party Rentals, was amazing with different shades of purple and white…

Some of the centerpieces actually had real live fish swimming in them which I had never seen before and thought was a very unique idea! (provided by Flowers and Gifts by Arlis)

The ceremony was being held outside on the beach overlooking the bay and the arch and flowers outside matched the lovely decor inside. As the ceremony began, guests started to file in and take their seats and Shamrun walked in with his mom to “Fortunate” by Maxwell, followed by the bridal party. And then everyone stood up as the breathtaking bride Carly walked in escorted by her father to the tune of “Whenever Wherever Whatever” by Maxwell. The smile on Shamrun’s face when he finally saw his beautiful bride perfectly described that special moment…

After a very special poem recital by Shamrun’s mother, the bride and groom pledged their vows to one another…

There was not a dry eye on the beach as Minister Bruce Stephens proudly pronounced Shamrun and Carly husband and wife and everyone applauded as Maxwell‘s “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)” began playing as their recessional song.

Everyone made their way inside after the bridal party and family exited and enjoyed an extended cocktail hour. The guests were treated to appetizers of egg rolls, wontons and a chef in the courtyard who was cutting up and serving fresh sushi (sushi provided by Sushi Food Co. Catering). As slow R&B music played in the background, I took the opportunity to take some photos of the cupcake table and gift table. The cupcakes were provided by Sweet Cheeks Baking Co.

After the wonderful chinese dinner provided by Panda Inn was served consisting of beef & broccoli, orange chicken, chow mien noodles and other delicious entrees, Shamrun opened the mic to the guests to give toasts (bartending provided by Party Staff). Shamrun began the toasting by giving a heartfelt thanks to the guests and to his wife Carly. The bridal party then came up to give their toasts as well…

Right after the toasts, Shamrun and Carly went directly into their first dance to “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready)” by Alicia Keys, followed by cake cutting to “Break Of Dawn” by Michael Jackson and a “seductive” bouquet and garter to the tune of “Seduction” by Usher.

And then I immediately opened the dance floor. Shamrun and Carly submitted an awesome request list on our website and I also improvised with a few throwback songs to keep the floor packed. We ended the night with “All My Life” by K-Ci & JoJo and right on cue the fireworks at Sea World across the water started to explode in the sky. It was a perfect end to a perfect night and I am so honored that Mr. & Mrs. Lodkey included me in their special day. Dev and I had a great time and we wish them the best in all that life has to offer. Congratulations Shamrun and Carly!

J. Soul-

We cannot thank you enough! Its these moments that define our life together and we are happy to have shared it with you. All of our guests are raving about the ceremony and reception and you played a major role in our wedding being a success. From Maxwells “Fortunate” leading off the ceremony to the final dance during the fireworks, the night was seamless. We loved how professional and personal you were with the entire process. We will recommend you to everyone! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are going to name our first son Devereaux Soul Lodkey.

We started a yelp page for you, it will take two days to post and you can update your info in the bio section.

The blog was amazing, people are really enjoying watching the video. It would be a great way to expand your business by offering a short video for people to purchase from you. Dev did a great job shooting it. By offering it you could get interviews from guests, more close up shots and move throughout the crowd effortlessly.

Thanks again,

Sham and Carly Lodkey
