The wedding of Dan Hastings and Katy Foltz was the third event I’ve done in Balboa Park this year alone and the second event I’ve done in the Grand Ballroom at The Prado this year as well. I met Katy back in January when I got a call from my good friend and the coordinator for my own wedding Cynthia Zatkin of CZ Events to come by and meet Katy. We sat in Cynthia’s La Jolla office and had a great time chit chatting about Katy’s August wedding and life in general. I always enjoy working with Cynthia because of her professionalism and how incredibly thorough she is so I knew this would be a first-class wedding. The ceremony was held at the Administration Courtyard Lawn in Balboa Park and the flowers were provided by Indulge. They also had three wonderful musicians called Silverwood and the officiate was Mike Sedgwick, the first officiate I’ve ever seen perform the ceremony reading from his iPad, it was awesome and very smart! 🙂 It was a gorgeous flawless ceremony (with the exception of a few planes flying over Balboa Park) and Mike officially presented Mr. & Mrs. Dan and Katy Hastings to the guests. The guests then departed the park and headed over to cocktail hour on the patio at The Prado. The inside of the ballroom was decorated beautifully with a classy yet vintage feel with emphasis on traveling and candles everywhere! The photography was done by new newest friends Amy & Maurice of betwixt and it was tons of fun working with them over the course of the evening. Dan and Katy entered to “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond and after a welcome by the Father of the Bride and after dinner, Katy’s sisters Kelly & Kenna gave toasts followed by Sean the Best Man. Mr. & Mrs. Hastings then took the floor to their first dance “At Last” by Etta James followed by the Father/Daughter dance and the Mother/Son dance. And then it was my turn to pack the dance floor. I played a wide variety of music from Classic Rock to 80’s all the way up to Current Top 40 and Electro. After cake-cutting and bouquet, I went into a 90’s Hip Hop set and ended the night with all of Dan and Katy’s bridal party and guests dancing to some old school early 2000’s Bubble Gum Pop. I had an absolute blast being a part of Dan and Katy’s special day and I’m incredibly honored that they chose me to handle the entertainment on their very special day. Please enjoy the photos and special video I put together below them as my gift to the both of you. Congratulations and I wish you all the best! 🙂
